The Salukis at Ash-Shi'raAfter 30 years in the breed you would think we would have pages and pages of photos of our hounds. Unfortunately, most of the photos taken down through the years are not in digital format and I have yet to convince myself to start scanning. That might happen yet, but until it does, the latest addition to the household will get the most press. A long standing fascination with country of origin Salukis led to Midbar Tarabin Zariza sharing our home. She is gone now, as are her children, but their legacy lives on in our hearts. Then came Sheyda of Iran, who doesn't share our home, but certainly captivated us nonetheless. Sheyda was bred to another Iranian import to produce the Melik "I" litter, from which came our Ista'sada. Fair warning: two things ensure there are lots of pictures of this boy - 1) digital photography and 2) he is very photogenic. Ista'sada (aka Frank the Tank)
Then there are the two girls who do not live here, but are a part of our lives. They are both imports from Iran via Germany and at this time they both live with Mary Beth and George Rogers. Sheyda of Iran is an Irish marked black, imported from Bokan, Iran in the autumn of 2003. Dam of Ista'sada, Sheyda is shared with Mary Beth Rogers (Melik Salukis), Monica Stoner (Sacre-Tyana Salukis), and Geraldine Clark. Sheyda will be bred again, sire to be determined. Nazee of Iran is a black masked, fawn girl with stripes, originally from Kordestan, Iran, imported in the autumn of 2006. Nazee is shared with Mary Beth and Lorraine Trenholm (Rataki Salukis). Nazee was recently bred to Frank's brother, I'saar, producing a lovely litter of eight. The latest not quite addition is Jason el Ghafiri, bred by Marion Gürgens of el Ghafiri Salukis in Germany. Jason lives with Monica and Tom Stoner. They do not yet have a web site, so Jason's web presence will be here for now.
